  3.                                 done a lot in a short time. 
  4.                                 He has won three rushing 
  5.                                 titles in just five NFL 
  6. seasons. He is the first running back to win a 
  7. rushing title and play in the Super Bowl in the 
  8. same season. He is also the first running 
  9. back to win a rushing title, the regular season 
  10. Most Valuable Player Award, and the Super 
  11. Bowl MVP trophy in the same season!

  13. It seems that Emmitt has been on a fast track 
  14. for a long time. In his four years at Escambia 
  15. High School, in Pensacola, Florida, Emmitt 
  16. gained 8,804 career yards. He is third on the 
  17. all-time rushing list in the National High 
  18. School Sports Record book. In his 
  19. senior year, he was named Player of
  20.                                 the Year by USA Today 
  21.                                 and Parade magazine.

  23.                                 Emmitt was recruited by 
  24.                                 several colleges, and 
  25. decided to attend the University of Florida. 
  26. There, in just the seventh game of his 
  27. freshman year, he passed the 1,000-yard 
  28. mark in rushing. That was the fastest anyone 
  29. had rushed for 1,000 yards in the history of 
  30. college football. In his three seasons at 
  31. Florida (he left after his junior year), Emmitt 
  32. became the fifth-leading rusher in the history 
  33. of the Southeastern Conference, rushing for 
  34. 3,928 yards and setting 58 school records.

  36. But even with his impressive record, many 
  37. pro football scouts didnΓÇÖt think he would 
  38. make it in the NFL because of his height 
  39.                                 (heΓÇÖs only 5' 9", which is 
  40.                                 short for the pros) and 
  41.                                 average speed. Sixteen 
  42.                                 teams passed on him in 
  43.                                 the 1990 NFL draft, but 
  44. the Dallas Cowboys recognized his talent and 
  45. signed him.

  47. With the Cowboys, Emmitt won three straight 
  48. rushing titles (1991-1993). He became the 
  49. first player to have back-to-back seasons of 
  50. 1,500 yards or more since Walter Payton. In 
  51. Super Bowl XXVII, in 1993, Emmitt rushed for 
  52. 108 yards on 22 carries and scored one 
  53. touchdown, helping the Cowboys win 52-17. 
  54. In Super Bowl XXVIII, in 1994, Emmitt rushed 
  55. for 132 yards, scored two touchdowns, and 
  56. was named the gameΓÇÖs MVP.

  58.                                 Emmitt still spends lots of 
  59.                                 time with his family (he 
  60.                                 has three brothers and 
  61.                                 two sisters) in Pensacola, 
  62.                                 Florida. Although he has 
  63. achieved a lot by the age of 25, Emmitt still 
  64. has big plans for the future. He hopes to 
  65. break the NFLΓÇÖs career rushing record of 
  66. 16,726 yards, held by Walter Payton.
